Dedicated Skills help WP Godmode work with each builder’s real structure and settings. It can still inspect many other WordPress setups, but dedicated builder support is strongest where a Skill exists. Additional builders and integrations are planned.

No. You describe what you want in plain English or in your native language — “swap this hero image, change the headline to X, create a shortcode for Y” — and WP Godmode handles the rest. Professionals without a strong dev background can suddenly take on technical work. Agency account managers and designers can handle what used to require a dev queue. WP Godmode is invoking AI via the Codex CLI. We run Codex for you on our servers, so you don’t need to run and manage the CLI on your own, and so that it’s always available when WP Godmode needs it. When you create a WP Godmode account, we help you authenticate the Codex CLI with your own ChatGPT subscription.

You can also run WP Godmode via Claude Code CLI using your own Anthropic API key — connect it yourself from your account dashboard.

Yes. WP Godmode is powered by ChatGPT Codex, and you bring your own account — that way you keep direct control over usage, billing and rate limits with OpenAI.

For professional WordPress work we recommend the Codex Pro plan (not Business). Pro ships with significantly higher usage limits, which is what you want once you start running real work through Godmode. Freelancers running a few sites are usually comfortable on Pro; agencies shipping across a full portfolio almost always want it too.

Codex isn’t the only option, though — you can also connect a Claude (Anthropic) account from your dashboard if you prefer.

WP Godmode runs on ChatGPT Codex by default. Codex’s reasoning on real codebases, its tool use and large-context understanding are what make the “reads your theme, plugins, content and database before it touches anything” promise actually hold up.

Yes for code changes: WP Godmode lets you undo changes step by step in any custom code (including plugins and themes), so a wrong move on a live site is rarely more than a click away from being reverted. WP Godmode also offers Recovery Mode, which gets auto-enabled when Godmode detects your website got broken during edits.

That said — as with any development work, manual or AI-assisted — we always recommend keeping a fresh backup before bigger changes. Only what WP Godmode needs to do the task you asked for — and nothing more. When you send a prompt, WP Godmode reads the relevant files, database records or page HTML for that specific job and forwards them to ChatGPT Codex using your own account. Yes — and on every plan, to some degree. WP Godmode gives you two levels of branding control:

• Admin colour (on request): a built-in theme picker lets you set the accent colour of the WP Godmode backend, so it fits your own workspace or a client’s brand.
• Full white-label (Enterprise): replace the WP Godmode name and logo with your own, so clients see your agency throughout the admin — not us.

Yes — with an Enterprise licence. The Enterprise tier is built for agencies and platforms that want to offer WP Godmode (or a rebranded version of it) directly to their own clients. It includes a dedicated client interface, white-labelling, and licensing options designed for resale.

By default, WP Godmode keeps custom code clean and isolated in dedicated WP Godmode Projects. These are self-contained folders inside the main wp-content/gm-projects folder — easy to find, easy to disable, easy to delete — and they never touch your theme or WordPress core.

But you are not locked in. You can instruct WP Godmode to write code wherever it makes sense for the job:

• A child theme’s functions.php
• A snippet plugin (Code Snippets, WPCode, etc.)
• An existing custom plugin you already maintain
• A brand-new plugin or theme you ask WP Godmode to scaffold

You decide the destination; WP Godmode follows the conventions of the location.

Yes. Each site has its own set of rules you can write in plain English — and WP Godmode reads them before every action. Use them to lock in conventions:

• “Always add custom code to [my code snippet plugin], not as a Godmode Project”
• “Use Tailwind utility classes, never inline styles”
• “Match this brand voice in every piece of copy:”
• “Always create a backup of rows that you want to edit in the database”

Rules are scoped per site, so a client’s strict production rules never bleed into your own internal staging.

A skill is a specialised module that teaches WP Godmode how to do a specific kind of work really well, or how to do things it hasn’t been trained for yet.

WP Godmode ships with a skill system and several pre-built skills out of the box, including dedicated page builder Skills for Breakdance, Elementor, Avada and Divi. These builder Skills understand the page builder’s structure and settings instead of treating every page like generic HTML.

In general, Godmode is able to figure out custom data structures, plugin filters and site-specific conventions on the fly. Dedicated Skills mean WP Godmode doesn’t have to guess every time; it follows a tested recipe for the tool or framework in front of it, so it’s more reliable and faster.

Yes — you can create your own skills. Use our built-in, AI-powered Skill Builder to write a skill once, and WP Godmode will reach for it automatically whenever it fits the task. Teams use this to encode internal conventions, framework choices and client-specific workflows.

Yes. WP Godmode runs in three permission modes, set per site:

• Ask before every action — review and approve every change before it ships. Best for client production.
• Autonomous — WP Godmode executes without asking. Best for internal sites, staging or fast iteration.
• Read-only — WP Godmode can look at the site but cannot modify anything. Great for audits and analysis.

You can switch modes at any time, even mid-conversation, depending on how much trust the current task deserves.

Yes. WP Godmode accepts a wide range of files directly in the chat, and uses them as input for the task at hand:

• Images (PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG) — design references, bug screenshots, brand assets, “rebuild this from the image” tasks.
• PDFs — brand guidelines, briefs, source content, contracts to summarise.
• Figma files — point WP Godmode at a frame, page or full file (Figma API key required) and have it rebuilt as WordPress markup.
• Documents & text files (Word, Markdown, TXT) — bulk content for blog posts, page copy, knowledge bases.
• Spreadsheets & CSVs — bulk product imports, ACF data, redirect lists, anything tabular.

Once uploaded, WP Godmode reads the file and can write content, build pages, generate code, or import data based on it — no copy-pasting required.

WP Godmode offers three custom model presets that each uses a different combination of settings (model, reasoning effort, etc.) for a specific set of tasks you might want to do in WordPress, and you can switch the presets per conversation depending on what the work calls for. The model presets are:

• Standard — best for everyday coding and tasks like writing, data processing and site management.
• Sharp — reasons more deeply with the strongest model. Best for complex building tasks and coding.
• Sharp Max — the strongest model with the highest token limits for thinking and complex task execution.

Usage is billed against your own Codex account — so picking the right model for the job has a real impact on your token spending. For most professional setups, we recommend the Codex Pro plan (not Business), which has higher usage limits.

Visual testing means WP Godmode does not just write a change and call it done — it actually opens the page in a real browser, takes a screenshot, inspects the DOM and computed CSS, and confirms the result matches what you asked for.

If a button is the wrong colour, a section is overlapping on mobile, or the new layout did not render at all, WP Godmode sees the problem visually and fixes it before handing the work back to you. Particularly powerful for layout work, page-builder changes, and bug reports that say “something looks off but I cannot quite describe it.”

Plan Mode is for the bigger jobs. Instead of jumping straight into execution, WP Godmode first lays out a step-by-step plan: which files it will touch, in which order, what could go wrong, what it needs from you.

You approve the plan, push back on it, or rework it together — before a single change is made. Best for non-trivial work: a multi-page redesign, a plugin build, a complex migration, anything where you want alignment before code starts shipping.

An agent is WP Godmode doing work in the background while you continue with something else.

You can use agents for long-running or parallel tasks: one agent can investigate a bug, another can build a page and another can review a plugin while the main chat remains available.

For recurring work, Scheduled Workflows let agent-style processes run automatically, such as audits, scans, reports and imports. These workflows still follow the site’s rules and permission mode.

Yes. Because WP Godmode reads your real WordPress stack — database, plugins, files and the REST API — it understands a WooCommerce store the same way it understands the rest of the site. That means it can work across your products, orders, settings and store-specific code, for example:

Yes. Agent Workflows can be set up for recurring work such as audits, malware scans, reports, content imports and maintenance checks. They can run once, on a schedule or in the background depending on the workflow.

Scheduled workflows still follow the site’s rules and permission mode, so you can require review before changes are applied on live client sites.

Yes. With the optional Client Dashboard widget, clients can use a simplified read-only assistant without accessing WP Godmode itself.

Yes. WP Godmode can be configured per site so only selected WordPress users can access it. Feature availability can also be scoped depending on your account and plan.

WP Godmode can inspect the WordPress installation it is working on: active theme, plugins, custom post types, database structure, WooCommerce data, ACF fields, media, custom code and relevant site settings.

The WP Godmode mobile app is in progress and shown on the roadmap. It is not the primary production interface today.

The current product runs inside WordPress through wp-admin. The mobile app is planned to make it easier to manage WordPress sites from anywhere using the same AI workspace.
