How a WordPress Agency Uses WP Godmode as an AI Teammate

When ChatGPT first appeared, it changed the way many WordPress teams worked. Suddenly, AI could help with writing, coding, research, debugging, and planning. Like many agencies, we started using it everywhere.

But after the initial excitement, a pattern became obvious: we were constantly switching between ChatGPT and WordPress.

We copied code back and forth. We pasted content into editors. We explained the same website context again and again. Even when AI gave us a useful answer, a human still had to move the work into WordPress, check the setup, and handle the actual implementation.

That led us to a simple question: what if AI lived inside WordPress instead?

From AI Chat to AI Teammate

The idea behind WP Godmode was not to create another chatbot. It was to bring an AI teammate directly into the WordPress environment, where it could understand the website, inspect the codebase, read configuration, and actually perform tasks.

That distinction matters. A generic AI assistant can suggest what to do. An AI teammate inside WordPress can understand what exists, work within the real project context, and help move tasks forward with far less manual translation.

Today, almost everyone on our team uses AI inside WordPress in some way.

  • Developers use it to build plugins, debug code, inspect files, and implement new features.
  • Designers use it to build pages, adjust layouts, and iterate on visual ideas.
  • Marketing teams use it for content, SEO, accessibility improvements, and publishing workflows.
  • Project managers use it to understand a website before making technical decisions.

Instead of asking a colleague where something is or how something works, team members can simply ask the website.

Why Project Context Changes Everything

One of the biggest lessons for us has been that AI becomes much more useful once it understands the full context of a project.

WordPress projects are rarely simple. They include themes, plugins, custom post types, page builders, templates, settings, content models, integrations, and client-specific decisions made over time. Without that context, even a good AI answer can be incomplete or hard to apply.

When AI can access the website, its files, plugins, theme, and configuration, the conversation changes. We spend less time explaining the project and more time getting actual work done.

For an agency, that creates a very practical shift: fewer repetitive tasks and more time for strategy, consulting, UX, and solving the business problems our clients actually care about.

Automation for Recurring WordPress Work

Another important use case is automation. Not every task needs a person watching every step.

We use AI agents to support recurring work such as monitoring websites, importing content, generating blog posts, and handling maintenance tasks in the background. These workflows are especially useful when the task is predictable, repetitive, or triggered by an event on the site.

The goal is not to remove human judgment from important decisions. It is to stop spending human attention on work that can be handled reliably by a focused process.

Focused AI Tools for Clients

We have also started creating focused AI tools for clients.

Instead of giving every client access to a complex AI interface, we can build simple tools around specific tasks. For example, a client might need a tool for importing content, finding information about their website, or performing a structured workflow without needing to understand the underlying technical details.

This keeps the experience simple while still giving clients the benefits of AI. They do not need to learn prompt engineering or understand the entire website architecture. They just get a tool that helps them complete the job.

Keeping Control of the AI Setup

Getting started with WP Godmode does not require changing the way WordPress works. It runs as a WordPress plugin, and teams can connect their own Claude or ChatGPT account.

That matters because agencies and site owners should stay in control of which AI model they use, how it is configured, and how it fits into their workflow.

Because AI can make changes to a live website, safeguards are also part of the workflow. Permission layers, recovery options, and site-specific rules help make sure AI only does what it is supposed to do.

The Real Shift: AI as Part of the Team

For us, the biggest change is not simply that AI can write code faster.

The bigger shift is that AI has become another member of the team. It handles repetitive work, helps everyone understand projects more quickly, and gives us more time to focus on the work that creates value for clients.

That is why we built WP Godmode: not to replace WordPress professionals, but to give them an AI teammate that works alongside them inside the tools they already use.
